Detailing in Oak Hill

The gateway to the Hill Country — and its dust — meets a rig built for it

Oak Hill sits where Austin gives way to the Hill Country proper, and the long-running reconstruction at the Y — where US-290 and TX-71 meet — has made limestone dust a daily fact of life for anything parked nearby. That fine white grit is abrasive, not just dirty, and a dry wipe-down grinds it straight into clear coat. Our pre-rinse floats it off with a 0 PPM RO/DI finish before any contact wash ever touches the panel, which is the actual fix, not a marketing line.

Travis Country and the streets off Yaupon Valley and Yucca Trail climb real grade through live oak and Ashe juniper canopy, which means sap, cedar fiber, and pollen on top of the dust — especially each winter when mountain cedar runs heavy across the whole Hill Country side of town. We fold a decontamination pass into the standard wash out here rather than treating it as an upsell, because it's routine, not exceptional.

Maple Run, Cherry Creek, Legend Oaks, and the Village at Western Oaks round out our regular Oak Hill route, along with the older limestone-quarry lots near Convict Hill — some of the most mature tree cover in southwest Austin, and some of the steepest driveways. Our rig is compact and fully self-contained, so a single-lane driveway on a grade isn't a problem the way a trailer setup would be. Book online and pick a time; the flat rate is the same whether you're off 290 or back in Travis Country.

Oak Hill FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is the Y at Oak Hill construction going to be a problem for a mobile appointment?
No — if anything it's why people book with us. The ongoing TxDOT work at the Y kicks up a steady film of limestone dust on anything parked nearby, and we treat that as a normal pre-wash, not a special case. Side streets off 290/71 are easy to reach regardless of the day's lane closures.
Can you actually get up our hill without scraping the rig or struggling with the driveway?
Yes — most Oak Hill lots sit on a grade with a single-lane driveway, and our setup is a compact, self-contained rig, not a trailer. We've worked the steep streets off Yaupon Valley and Yucca Trail plenty of times.
Does caliche and limestone dust actually damage paint, or is it just dirt?
It's abrasive, not just dirty — the fine limestone grit from graded hillsides and nearby road work can fine-scratch paint if it's wiped instead of properly rinsed off first. Our pre-rinse floats it away before any contact touches the panel.
We're surrounded by live oak and cedar at the back of our lot — does that change anything?
It means more sap and cedar fiber on the hood and windshield than a street without canopy, especially after wind. We fold a decontamination pass into the wash rather than charging extra, since it's routine out here.
How far out do you go — does Circle C or Shady Hollow count as Oak Hill for routing?
Those are their own stops on our map, but they're a few minutes down 1826 or Brodie from Oak Hill proper, so we regularly route them back to back with Oak Hill and Travis Country appointments the same day.
Do you need power or water from us if we're on well water or septic?
Never — the rig carries its own water and power, so a septic system or well doesn't change anything about how we set up.
