What's different about detailing a Tesla

• A soft clear coat that swirls fast

  Tesla's OEM clear coat is widely reported by independent detailers and paint-thickness tests to run thinner and softer than many gas vehicles, so an automated or touch car wash leaves visible swirl marks sooner. We hand wash and rinse exclusively — no brushes, no automated equipment — and we recommend paint correction and a ceramic coating early in ownership, not after the swirls are already baked in.
• Lower brake dust changes the wheel routine

  Regenerative braking means Tesla wheels collect noticeably less brake dust than a comparable gas car, so the iron-decontamination step that's critical on a performance German car is lighter work here. We put that time instead into the glass roof and door-gap detail below.
• The glass roof shows every streak from inside

  A full panoramic glass roof on a Model 3 or Model Y means any streaking on the inside of the glass is visible from the driver's seat in direct Austin sun, year-round. We detail glass from both sides with a dedicated, lint-free pass rather than treating it as another exterior panel.
• Flush handles and tight panel gaps trap grime

  Tesla's flush-mount door handles and tighter body panel gaps trap road grime that a standard wipe-down misses. We hand-detail these gaps on every exterior pass, not just on request.
• Vegan leather seats show sunscreen and dye transfer

  Tesla's synthetic ("vegan leather") seating looks great but shows sunscreen and dark-denim dye transfer more visibly than traditional leather, especially after an Austin summer. We use a pH-neutral interior cleaner matched to synthetic upholstery rather than a generic all-purpose spray.

• Will a ceramic coating make my Tesla's paint scratch-proof?
  No — nothing does. But it makes the paint meaningfully more resistant to swirling from washing and easier to keep clean between details.
• Do you clean the glass roof from both sides?
  Yes — the inside gets its own lint-free pass specifically because streaks are visible from the driver's seat.
• Does the lower brake dust mean I need details less often?
  Not really — brake dust is only one input. UV exposure, pollen, and bugs affect a Tesla's paint the same as any other car in Austin.
• Can you detail around the FSD cameras and sensors?
  Yes — we work carefully around camera housings and sensors the same way we would around any factory trim. Nothing is removed or disassembled.
