Original Town is Buda's oldest residential section, tucked just behind Main Street in the Downtown Buda Historic District — a six-block, roughly 15-acre commercial core added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, with its oldest building dating back to 1881 when the town was founded with the arrival of the International-Great Northern Railroad. Most of the surrounding homes in Original Town predate 1950, a world apart from Buda's master-planned subdivisions a few miles out.

Walkable to Main Street's shops, coffee, and restaurants, Original Town cars deal with more foot-traffic parking and on-street exposure than a driveway-centric subdivision, plus the ordinary wear of decades-old pavement and older trees overhead.
